About Dr. Amin

Advanced Training. Specialized Orthopedic Expertise.

Tanay Amin, MD, FAAOS trained in Houston's prestigious Texas Medical Center, where he attended medical school and completed his Hand Surgery Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a comprehensive Orthopaedic Surgery residency training program at the University of Kansas–Kansas City.

Dr. Amin is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and possesses a Subspecialty Certificate in Surgery of the Hand from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

That specialized training shapes how he evaluates and treats conditions of the hand and upper extremity. The hand and wrist are intricate structures where small problems — a compressed nerve, a torn ligament, an arthritic joint — can meaningfully affect how a person works, writes, lifts or simply gets through the day. Dr. Amin approaches those problems with a thorough understanding of the underlying anatomy and a treatment plan built around the individual.

His practice also encompasses orthopedic care of the elbow and shoulder, because many upper-extremity conditions are connected: a shoulder that doesn't move well can overload the elbow, and a nerve problem at the elbow can cause numbness in the hand. Dr. Amin evaluates the whole upper extremity — shoulder to fingertip — so the diagnosis and treatment plan address the real source of a patient's symptoms.

Our Approach

Your Treatment Plan Should Be a Collaborative Decision

Dr. Amin believes effective orthopedic care begins with understanding the individual patient — not simply the diagnosis. He works closely with patients to understand their symptoms, activity level, concerns and treatment goals before developing an individualized treatment strategy.

This collaborative approach helps patients better understand their condition and the options available to them, so they can participate meaningfully in decisions about their care. Depending on the diagnosis and individual circumstances, treatment may include conservative management, injections, or surgical treatment when appropriate.

Dr. Amin treats joint pain, arthritis, sports injuries, broken bones and neuropathies such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome, along with many other orthopedic conditions of the upper extremity.

Precision Hand and Orthopedic Surgery provides evaluation and treatment for a broad range of hand and upper-extremity orthopedic conditions, from common nerve compression disorders to fractures and complex injuries.

Treatments & Procedures

Treatment Designed Around the Patient

Orthopedic treatment should be individualized based on the patient's diagnosis, symptoms, lifestyle and goals. Not every condition requires surgery, and not every patient is a candidate for every procedure — the right plan depends on your specific circumstances.

Depending on your diagnosis, treatment may begin with conservative measures such as activity modification, therapy, bracing or injections. Surgical options are considered when they offer the best opportunity to relieve pain and restore function.
